How to organize entries with groups and tags
Manage Groups and Tags in Wageso, understand income and expense tag types, and decide when to use a group or a tag.

Why groups and tags exist
Groups and tags help you understand entries after you save them. They are especially useful when Cashflow has many income and expense records.
- Groups are broad context labels.
- Tags are entry-type labels.
- Both can be used for filtering and reviewing Insights.
You do not need many labels to start. A small set that you use consistently is better than a long list that becomes hard to maintain.
Manage Groups
Open Settings, then Groups. The Groups screen lets you add group names and use them later when creating entries.
Groups are useful for broader questions:
- Which person or household area does this belong to?
- Is this Work, Freelance, Personal, or Family?
- Which source, project, or responsibility should this entry be grouped under?
Open Groups
Go to Settings, then Groups.
Add a group
Tap Add group..., enter a clear name, and create it.
Use it on entries
Select the group when adding or editing income and expenses.
Manage Tags
Open Settings, then Tags. Tags can have a type: Income or Expense. This helps Wageso keep income tags separate from expense tags when you add entries.
The Tags screen also includes suggestions. Suggested income tags can include examples such as Salary, Bonus, Gift, and Sponsorship. Suggested expense tags can include examples such as Credit Card, Loan, Rent, Maintenance, and Bills.
When creating a tag, choose:
- Name: A short label that will make sense later.
- Type: Income or Expense.
- Color: A color that makes the tag easier to recognize.
Tags vs Groups
Use a group for broad context and a tag for the kind of income or expense.
Examples:
- Group: Work, Tag: Salary.
- Group: Personal, Tag: Rent.
- Group: Family, Tag: Bills.
- Group: Freelance, Tag: Sponsorship.
If you are unsure, ask what question you want to answer later. Use a group for "who or what area?" and a tag for "what type of money movement?"
Keep labels useful
Review groups and tags after a few weeks. Merge your habits by using fewer labels, naming them clearly, and checking Ungrouped or Untagged filters when cleaning up old entries.
Too many labels can make Insights harder to read. Start with the labels you use every month, then add more only when a real filtering need appears.
